Settling In...
Feb. 21st, 2007 01:53 pmThe mess of the last couple of weeks is starting to settle somewhat and we are starting to see a path through all this. It's still a bit of a nightmare, but at least we're getting some clarity and some purpose. In some respects having a deal this big go tits up is a little like grieving. However, as they say, life goes on.
Catching up on work and getting the Seattle office into some form of shape is helping. I've got my desk sorted, I have not moved the furniture around yet. I have got some more office furniture to buy from Ikea but we are getting there. Now all we need is to get some people working in here. Unfortunately, the people who are meant to have stopped coming in because it is such a dire work environment. That's going to change though.
My main problem with the office is actually getting here in the morning. Typically my day is starting around (or before) 7am, with a slew of conference calls with Europe. They typically go on until 9 or 10am, so I'm not going to be getting here much before 10, having already worked 3 or 4 hours. In some respects that works ok because it means I can avoid the worst of the traffic.
Today was made worse because it was time to swap the cars. We have a rental car allowance but I want to buy a car as soon as possible. The last month has been taken up with moving in and foreign travel, so the next 2 weeks are for buying a car.
Anybody got any recomendations for cars in Seattle?
