I got up this morning with very good intentions to use the Heathrow Connect train. Only... well, in true British Railways style - the damn thing isn't running this weekend. So I took a cab.

Breezed through security, which was a pleasant surprise and found a comfortable lounge with a computer.

Boarding in 30 minutes.

I'm still not 100% sure if I'll make my panel at 12.

... M sent me on my way ordering me to take a rest. I therefore have managed to leave my briefcase at home. Scarily, much harder than I expected. However, I am travelling, on a plane, without a laptop nor work of any description.

When I was younger I used to really find the concept of workaholics, like my father, really really weird. Now, I realise that it's a thing that creeps up on you. You get fixated on the tasks at hand, and, as you get older, the roles become more challenging, so that work, at least for me, is progressively less dull and more interesting.

I think you then start to get into a vicious circle. The more interesting the work, the more you want to do and the more you engage with it, until it's absorbing far too much of your life.

I'll have to watch that.

Still. I can't deny that what I'm doing at the moment is pretty exciting.

The other thing I've learnt is that nobody really understands what they have to do. In a way, we're all just winging it.

Anyway, I might have a beer while I wait for the flight. After all, I am on holiday :)
