Managed, finally, to get it up and running on the home PC under the 2 IDs - but some weird stuff did crop up while I was at it. Still, we have the 2 iPods set up and playing. You just have to make sure you kill the "other" iTunes client in the Task Manager before changing ID, otherwise it doesn't work.
Also found the CD carrier in the car and ripped the remaining CDs onto the PC - we've got a little over 4.5GB of music on the home computer, which seems a lot to me, but I am told it's nothing really. Now, what we really want is a standard input jack on the car stereo... I guess that will be coming soon.
The weird thing is I stuck pretty much everything I wanted onto the iPod Nano (2GB version) and I've had no problem with leaving things out. This suggests I've a lot of crap on the HDD.
Next project, sort out out my Work email and figure out what to do with the video files on the machine at home. I suspect I'll set up a DVD store.
