And so...

... I wend my weiry way home. Sitting in the BA lounge at SeaTac sorting through the huge amount of work items from this last week of travelling and identifying which ones can be farmed off onto other shoulders less sloped than mine and more technically able.

Actually quite fun :)

Had a fun check in too. I have now been doing this so much I know most of the check in staff to chat to. They were not able to offer upgrades until they hit upon a jolly wheeze where for about $150 more than I was already spending they could sell me a Business Class ticket... oooohhh... Not sure if I can get that through my expenses having only authorised $550, but hell - if it comes to it I'll pay the difference, it's worth it to know I'm going to be able to have a decent night's sleep tonight.

Also found some jolly sippable 15 year old Glenfidch in the Lounge bar. Have to watch that as I do have to drive at Heathrow, so just the one glass and a couple of wines on the plane.

Got some Duty Free supplies in for Interaction - a few bottles of the good stuff to take up there with me. The concept of buying Malt in Seattle to take to a con in Scotland is a little odd, but _hey_ who cares.

Had a couple of beers in the excellent Elysian in Seattle with [livejournal.com profile] fringefann. Rather weird to think that the next time I see him will be in Bath on Friday when I'm taking him to see Stonehenge and Avebury.

Anyway, the free sandwiches just came out and I'm starving :)

Oh, and I bought a new digital camera, a shiny, slim, lightweight Canon Ixus 5 mega pixel. It's cool.

Anybody want to make me an offer for our old Ixus (2.1 mega pixel, 1 GB CF card, chargers for the US and UK...?)

Stopping the night in Queens Park to see M - although she won't be home until 8ish, so I'm in a Starbucks drinking coffee and doing some work.

Great flight, all this Business Class travel is really spoiling me for the inevitable times I am going to have to sit at the back of the plane.

Rather annoying not to actually be on a stand when we got back. Also annoying to fly out brilliant sunshine and warmth in Seattle to grey overcast blergh in London. Looks like it's settling in for the Con too. OTOH - like I'm going to be going outside much next week :)

Lots to do at work and Paul and I still have a quiz to finish. I also need to contact the people on Panels I'm moderating to ask them their thoughts. For anybody interested here's my agenda:

Friday 11am - The Pro's and Cons of Blogging Science: not entirely sure I can help on this one, but I can say a bit about the pros and cons of blogging confidential information at trade shows.

Friday 13:00 - The Ethics of Colonisation: I'm moderating this one which could be interesting. I'll have to bite my tounge as moderator as I have an opinion of my own on this.

Friday 19:00 - Pro-Am Technobabble. Teams are in a state of flux but we have confirmed Pat Cadigan, Charlie Stross for the Pro's and Liam Proven and Simon Bisson for the Ams - I'm still in need of 1 more person... anybody?

Saturday 17:00 - Are Tie in Novels Worthwhile or do they stop people reading real novels. Yes and no they don't, at least in your humble correspondants opinion :)

Sunday 13:00 Anarchy V. Technology - could a techno-liberatarian anarchy work? No. There, that was easy...

Monday 10am - The End of the Space Age?

I think I was put on something else too. I'll have to check.
