The Bath Christmas Market is a wealth hazard. Quite a bad one. I don't even want to think how much we spent there on Friday and Saturday. Friday night we did something we rarely do. Went out straight after work, had a wander around the market, met up a friend of M and some of her friends and ended up in the Rummer until closing time when we had a kebad. It was a good kebad too. Bought many things: Bottle of Caramel Cognac, selection of Cheeses (garlic, extra tasty and chilli), some kind of essential oil stuff, several pints of winter ale, several cups of mulled wine, other things...
Saturday: Mum came to visit. So, unlike other sensible residents of Bath who were ignoring the city centre we went in. After an hour of trying we gave up on lunch and bought a sandwich at Waitrose, then wandered around the market more, buying Misletoe from a fat Santa(!) then we walked up to Barique where we ordered some wine for Christmas and then eventually home where I lit the fire and found that last year's live Christmas Tree was still in pretty rude health. Friends came around with a Child and we let him dress the tree. I can't help thinking young Josh has fandom in his future. There's definately something of a hint of Aspergers about a 5 year old who sorts the baubles by colour and puts them on in a set sequence... Cooked the most expensive chicken I have ever bought (£7 for 1.5kg) but I've got to be honest it was worth it.
Sunday: Mum went home via my brothers. We went to a friend's for a pre-Christmas party, came home whence M had to go to bed with what looks like a Cold starting. Bugger.
I fly to Seattle and San Diego tomorrow for 3 days of a conference and then 3 days of business meetings.
I can't say that I'm looking forward to it. But it is my last trip of the year.
