Kids and Teeth
Nov. 17th, 2004 11:32 amJust been to the Dentist for the pre-crown session, just under an hour of drilling and a mouth full of putty. Yummy. Nearly all done and I will be £500 or so lighter. Goody.
On the way I took a long (ish) walk via a coffee shop where I caught up on some to do notes. I had been seated no more than a few minutes when a couple of women walked in with a screaming kid. The moother smiled indulgently, put the kid down and started having a conversation while the child ran around the coffee shop screaming. She ignored him. He screamed more, she spoke to her friend louder. Then the kid started playing on the stairs. Now the stairs in the Cafe Nero in Bath are not for the faint hearted, they're steep, long and frankly bad for an adult. The kid got down a couple of them before I'd had enough and picked the damn thing up, told it to be quiet and took it back to the mother.
"I don't think you'd want him playing on the stairs," I muttered, dropping it back with her.
"Oh, he always comes back," she said sweetly and then caught my expression.
Kids are not a life style choice - they *do* impact on your life. I wish people would realise that rather than expecting the rest of us who have made an alternative lifestyle choice to worry about it.
That said both M and I have been feeling kind of broody recently which has come as a nasty shock. Fortunately mornings like this allow me to deal with it quite well.
