El Tel: King of the Libertarians...

I read Going Postal recently.  I've read a lot but not quite all of P'Terry's books.  Some I love to bits, others I find a bit "thin".  Going Postal is one of the good ones, nice to see a range of interesting characters in a novel situation.  Certainly, like The Truth, it's nice to see him introduce new people to the rich tapestry which is Ankh-Moorpork.

In recent years I've noticed the Libertarians of the web starting to take notice of TPs books, which is interesting - Eric S Raymond probably started this by waxing lyrical about Terry in his blog.  Since then a bunch of others whom I observe, and occasionally argue with, have help Terry Pratchett up as a perfect example of libertarian thinking.  This is probably wrong.

Some minor spoilers for Going Postal and thoughts on Libertarian viewpoints... )

Wow - political connections...

M emailed our MP today to rant about something. He replied within a couple of hours to agree with her and explain what he'd been doing on the same topic.

Eekk.

I'd heard not-so-good things about him, Don Foster Lib-Dem, perhaps I will be voting for him after all.
