I, Robot...

I didn't have high hopes going into this one. So I was pleasantly surprised. The plus points - interesting future, the background technology works - something which it often doesn't seem to. There's a scene in a bar where Will Smith pays for a round of drinks which is excellent.

On the minus side, it really would work with the Asimov references removed. Susan Calvin is too good looking.

It's not a classic, but it was never going to be. I'd rather have seen them do the same with Caves of Steel with Smith as Bailey. If you like action movies with some good one liners and nice technology, you'll probably like this. If you're an Asimov purest, probably best not to bother.

Off We Go Again...

Booked the travel. Going solo with BA, so no M with me. Will be in Seattle from August 24 through to September 1. However, I also have to fit in a trip down to San Diego and one to Vancouver.

I'll probably do San Deigo on the Friday and go up to Vancouver on Sunday and drive up. We have old friend's in Vancouver who I'm hoping to see.

Given the fuss with this travel, not to mention the insane cost, I'm trying to plan ahead. So I'm looking at October, November and December trips to Seattle, and probably a late October trip to Korea and Taiwan. I might have to go to Japan too - but that's speculative.

In other news: the customer is keen that once we have the current new contract signed, we dramatically increase our presence on site in Seattle. This might mean M and I heading West again in the new year.

We shall see...

In other news: I have engaged an Estate Agent, and they have a property developer lined up to see the house. They sold one recently around the corner for £64,000 but apparently my place is an "absolute palace" in comparison and they are highly confident of bidding it up over £70K - we shall see...
