Sleepless in Bath...
Feb. 17th, 2004 06:39 pmGot off to sleep fine last night but suddenly seem to have spoinged back to Pacific Time. Either that or too many things on my mind.
Work is hard still, preparation for 3GSM is ongoing and I've that nagging feeling off too many balls in the air for comfort. No news on annual review, but lots of heavy hints that times are hard and there will be no sales pay reviews. That's hard for a lot of reasons. Firstly there was an agreement for regular reviews when I joined, as they had me over a barrel I had to settle for a package a lot less than I had been on. Secondly I've spent a year openning up a brand new and potentially huge account. While I get commission, its unlikely to be rolling in for another 6-8 months and even then the amounts are likely to be average.
Secondly things are tight at home. M is still job seeking and having a lot more set backs than we expected. While we were ok for a few months, since New Year life is getting harder. This month I'm likely to break the OD limit for the first time in a while and an extension isn't an option at the moment. We start paying back M's MBA loan at the end of the month which is a significant undertaking.
All in all not too good.
We ought to move before summer. M's asthma, a new arrival since moving here, was bad in the summer, but we simply can't afford it. We may have to see what we can do with air cleaners in the house and maybe a portable air-con unit for mid summer and make sure we don't open windows.
Any of these factors could be the reason for being wide awake at 3am.
