Summer Daze
Jun. 16th, 2003 01:57 pmFriday we were mostly trying to forget Thursday. It was, however, the end of formal MBA stuff Summer Party. Not exactly a prime occasion, we watched the awards for the entrepeneur project, won this year by "Renaissance Air" - a business plan for an airline using 30's and 40's planes and so forth for old style holidays.
Actually pretty cool.
Then we drank lots.
Saturday I was mostly hung over and jet lagged.
Sunday, we sat in the park and listened to the brass band while eating a picnic.
All in all a pleasant weekend.
In other news, I apparently have a Silver United Airlines Card. I'm not sure what it entitles me to.

Tremors...
Jun. 16th, 2003 02:07 pmWas on Cable last night and we watched it. M was actually shocked.
"But this is a *good* film," she said about 45 minutes in.
"Yes," I reply.
"So why haven't I seen it before?"
Good question - I suspect it might have a lot to do with the average write up in the Radio Times not selling it to people who don't habitually watch movies about Giant Worms.
Still, as she said, it really is a stonkingly good movie. Well drawn characters, good set pieces and, from my perspective, a really tight use of the situation. You often see a lot of "chainsaw" activity in horror movies. In Tremors the people really do respond well to the situation - there are no wasted options, so serious hand waving in the script writing department. A nice piece of work.
