I've been watching the slow developing story of the British pensioner in South Africa with interest. For those not following news, a British pensioner on a wine tasting trip to South Africa was arrested on the orders of the FBI on Feb 6 accused of being a fraudster.

This morning the FBI arrested the real suspect in Las Vegas and have agreed that Mr Lloyd the Brit in Durban jail should be released immediately. Riiigghhhttt... 2 weeks eh? Good intelligence eh?

I'm not sure whether I'm more annoyed by how long this has taken to sort out, or the fact that the FBI got it so badly wrong, or by the fact that a quick look at all the main US news feeds reveals not one byte mentioning this major intelligence services failure.

Well, I've been fretting about my upcoming and complicated trip. We reversed the direction we're flying yesterday so now, rather than gaining a day, I am going to loose Saturday 8th March. In that, we leave Seattle at 9am on Saturday, travel for about 18 hours, and land in Taipai at 20.00 on Sunday night. Uh?

Anyway, on the plus side, these have turned out to be expensive flights to organise as we've a fairly tight schedule - we've got Premium Economy booked to the US, which is nice, plus, if we agree to fly via Tokyo they're letting us fly Business Class to Taipai - Yayness!

The last leg home is Economy, but you can't have everything.
