You do know you don't have to be an attending member to vote, don't you? Supporting members of Sasquan get to vote in the Hugo Awards, so long as they join sufficiently before the voting deadline to allow it.
Oh, you know I want people to come to Worldcon wherever it is, so the more the merrier. I just found it a bit of a non-sequitur. On the other hand, I suspect we're going to see a serious bump in the number of voters in the fiction categories as people who often don't vote get moved to express their opinion of this set of finalists. I do hope people actually judge the works and not their presence on the sad bastards slate, since Jim Butcher is a nice guy and a good writer. Admittedly not the kind of novel that historically made the finalists list, and in particular book 15 of a series isn't usually in with much of a chance, but I think it wouldn't disgrace the list of Hugo winners.
In fact, if plans come together, I'll be heading to Sasquan from the IAU meeting in Hawaii and will have a few days between them to visit people/astronomy groups on the west coast...
